Obituary for Patrick W. Beagan

Patrick W. Beagan
In memory of Patrick W. Beagan of Arlington, Massachusetts. June 24, 2017

Patrick passed away at the early age of 45. He is survived by his loving wife of almost nine years, Andrea Beagan; his parents, John and Doris Beagan of Naples, Florida, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Also survived are two sisters: Sharon MacEachron and husband Jeff of Bow, NH, and Erin Logemann and husband George of San Diego, CA. Patrick’s six nieces and nephew are: Samantha, Thomas, Jamie and Jasmine MacEachron; and Sara, Meghan, and Kristin Logemann.
Originally from Ipswich, MA, Patrick graduated from Fairfield College Preparatory School, followed by graduating from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was also a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity at the university.
Patrick had a long and successful career in Software Engineering; initially with his own business in Colorado, followed by senior positions in world class companies in Boston: Art Technology Group (ATG) and Oracle Corporation. Highly respected for his technical abilities and affability, Patrick typically lead advanced development teams. Patrick was passionate about user-centric software, being awarded a patent for a recently implemented design at Oracle.
A sociable man, Patrick developed and maintained enduring friendships with people whom he shared his time in many sports and hobbies. Among his favorite sports were skiing, snowboarding, and kite surfing (even in winter). Camping, hiking, biking and being outdoors with Andrea were some of his most cherished pastimes. During the last few years Patrick developed an avid and successful interest in building and racing drones in nearby areas, using his aptitudes in electronics, software, and satisfying his desire to fly, as a bird might.
Seeing the world was very important to Patrick’s ambitions, and both he and Andrea traveled during the past years to countries all around the world. Patrick’s warm smile, gracious heart and kindness will be terribly missed by all that have known him. His passing leaves a huge emptiness in all our lives and hearts.
