The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Susan Lord can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Jefferson Park

I happened to see the name Susan Bulger under the Cambridge obituaries in the Globe today.  It  took me back many years to when my family and Susan's lived in the Jefferson Park projects in Cambridge.  I am the oldest of 8 Olson children (7 still surviving) and was good friends with Prudy as we called her.  I was sad to see that she too had passed away.  My parents, Helen & Jimmy Olson were friends with Susan and Prudy's parents and I remember that they moved out of the projects and closer to Mass. Ave.  If my memory serves me right, it may have been to Rice Street.  I believe I still played with Prudy (and I can still picture her) occasionally when she moved.  My family moved to Malden a little later and we no longer kept in touch.  I do recall the names, Susan, Graham, Missy.  My sister Carol (who is a nun) would have been Susan's age and perhaps Graham would have been Bobby's age.  Bobby died at 43.  My best memory of Prudy is after playing together during the day, I would go in for supper and she would knock on our door for me 20 minutes later to come out.  My father would get mad because we were still eating.  My father was pretty strict about all eating together.  We played dodge ball, roller skated and jumped rope often in those days and had  big celebrations in May we called May Parties where the mothers made hats and shakers with crepe paper and we would march around the yard and later have bar-b-qs.  My mother will be 95 in 2 weeks and is pretty healthy.  I am going to talk to her about Susan's parents.  I am pretty sure she will remember them.  My condolonces to the family.    -  Janet (Olson) Person
