Condolence From: Theodore Doolittle
Condolence: A genius. The best American rowing coach of his generation. The crimes were awful, and I am glad they became public.

Condolence From: Eugene Pool
Condolence: RIP Ted, who, as a colleague years ago, I knew as one of the most inspiring--creative, demanding, forward-looking--teachers I ever worked with, when in a milieu that fit him, ahead of his time as a technological educational force.

Condolence: Just a typo correction: Tedo in one place above should have been Ted. I'm sorry for the error, I didn't proofread properly.

Condolence: My heart goes out to your family. I trained for countless marathons, half-marathons, stadium tours, and rowing races with Ted. The things I learned about sports, I mostly learned from him. He was a true genius as a coach, one of a kind. He could teach a complete novice the essentials of the rowing stroke in 45 minutes, and for decades he turned novices into national champions. I volunteered at RFB&D for ten years and he taught me a lot about recording books for blind people too and made the Boston studio the most productive in the nation. I know Ted had a troubled life and caused some young people harm, and that is painful truth, but I also have heard from friends that Tedo sought God in his last years and God's forgiveness for the damage he caused. I am truly glad to know that Ted chose the path of seeking God. Fortunately I never witnessed the things for which Ted sought forgiveness. I acknowledge the wrongful pain he caused some; one of those persons reached out to me years ago and I listened to and talked with that person for many hours over many months, long discussions about justice and forgiveness coming from faith. Ted is with God now and God will be just but merciful too. What I did witness was that Ted had countless positive transformative effects on people's lives, that is most of what he did with his life, and it is for that I will primarily remember him and for which I will grateful.
