Condolences

Condolence From: Elaine Scarry
Condolence: With her high energy and striking appearance, Carol brought visual and verbal delight to our neighborhood and far beyond. My stepson, a lawyer in San Francisco, bought his first strategy game from Carol’s store – The Games People Play – when he was 7 or 8 years old, and continued to do so year by year. I gave him a game from the store this past December for his 48th Christmas. Carol and the others in the store always knew the deep history of every game – to walk into this store was to walk into an otherworldly zone of esoteric shared knowledge. The shop was full of treasures, often beautiful objects such as glassy chess pieces and inlaid chess boards. Carol’s death is a loss to us in the neighborhood. I am heartened by the thought that her sister was with her during her last days, that she was as comfortable as possible, and that she could look out the window onto her lovely garden.

Condolence From: Sissy
Condolence: My heart goes out to The Monica family on your precious loss: May you find some comfort in the Most High God’s written word. He promises to fulfill all that He has said (Titus 1:2). No more sickness(Isaiah 33:24). No more death (Isaiah 25:8). Seeing our loved ones again ( John5:28, 29) and he says where at Psalms 37:11 and how long Psalms 37:29). Later when you feel up to it, to read these few Scriptures of Comfort. They helped me when our daughter fell asleep in death. And, recently my husband fell asleep in death. And, I hope these Promises from God will be of some comfort to you as well. Especially, when One reflects on the way Jesus viewed death at John 11:11-14. Yes, God’s son Jesus viewed death as one Sleeping.
