When someone dies, we all lose that person's unique point of view. Blue had the gift of "living life out loud." He was a model of being his unique, passionate, rhythmic, aesthetic self. So we got to experience Blue's point of view on the world, and its loss is palpable. But Blue was also a great listener. There is no one I would rather have had in the front row as I told a story. I felt I could see my own story playing across his face as I told it. This reflection in the mirror of Blue made me a bolder, more impassioned teller. So we also lose his unique points of view on us, on what we were saying, on how close we were coming to "God speaking to God." Without that gifted listener, we will have to huddle even closer to each other to be nearly as much our selves. And for you, who both held that soaring spirit to the ground and had that sparkling listener in your daily life, the loss must be exponentially greater. Thanks for all you did to help us have him. Please rely on us whenever it makes sense for you, as you create a life without his physical presence.
